What is the difference between a penguin and an auk ?

The auk lives in the oceans of the Northern Hemisphere and it can fly and it  is not more than 40 cm in height. The better- known penguin, its distant cousin, lives in the South Pole in the Southern Hemisphere. It has wings, but does not know how to fly but it can swim! It can measure up to 1 metre in height.
