Who was Robinson Crusoe?

Alexander Selkrik a Scottish sailor inspired Daniel Dofoe, the author of Robinson Crusoe. He lived for almost 5 years in a deserted island where there was no vegetation nor a chance for human to survival, before being rescued in 1709. As for the ship, it sank!
