In a movie, how do they make an actor bleed ?

For a gun wound scene,a little bag of red liquid, which looks very similar to blood and a tiny explosive charge connected to a detonator is stuck to the actor's body.

At the required moment, the actor triggers the explosion,which makes the bag burst. Thereby making it look like the actor is bleeding on the screen.
